Experts estimate that 57% of salespeople lack effective communication skills. That statistic is much higher when you include all professionals.

By mastering advanced communication skills, you will develop the ability to strategically (and ethically) influence others and gain an edge in your career, finances, and life.

My name is Billy Gladwell, and I have always felt that sales suck. Yet, I have been in sales since 1989 and view the profession as an art.

I understand that this is a dichotomy, so allow me to explain.

I began my sales career in 1991 selling cars. After two days of watching videos in a room alone, I was put on the lot to sell a vehicle. I verbally vomited all the information I learned in training on the customer. Eventually, she bought the car, but I hated the process, and so did she. It felt icky.

Over the next few years, I had several sales jobs — security systems, radio advertising, mortgages, real estate, life and health insurance, and probably a few I blocked out. I was great at each one, but they all sucked.

Of course, the problem was me. I was pushing my ideas, products, and services on the probable client — as I was taught in all the sales training I sat through.

Most sales training focuses on guiding a probable client through a process of manipulation designed to paint them into a corner that is hard to escape. The majority of humans dislike difficult conversations and confrontations, and with pressure from the salesperson, they buy in order to exit the situation. This leads to unhappy customers, returns, rescissions, negative reviews, and disdain for the sales profession.

I eventually realized humans despise the process of being sold something, but they do enjoy buying what they want and need.

So I started my journey to make selling enjoyable (or at least tolerable) — for my probable clients and me. I knew there had to be a better way.

I became obsessed with learning how humans think, behave, and interact. I spent a decade mastering hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming™ (NLP™) and eventually became a trainer in both modalities. Over 30 years, I have earned the reputation of being a hypnosis, influence, and persuasion expert.

For many years, I put what I learned into action as a pharmaceutical representative for Johnson & Johnson. While with J&J, I won several sales awards and became a sales trainer. More importantly, I had fun while creating a very comfortable lifestyle.

In 2008, I resigned from J&J and began teaching sales professionals in all industries how to influence others ethically and take their sales to the next level.

My training (The Edge) isn't for the beginner in sales. My clients are sales professionals at the top of their game but want that additional element to take their sales career from great to extraordinary.

You will discover how to elicit the strategies of humans and present your message effectively. As a result, you will incredibly influence humans by making this shift in your perception and communication style.

  • Recognize when others have shifted their emotional states,

  • Know how to intentionally shift your emotional state and the emotional states of others,

  • Be able to recognize and use persuasive language in "ordinary" conversation, and

  • Select the specific message you want others to hear, remember, and act upon when you speak.

I will instill within you the ability to use this technology reflexively so you don't have to think about it.
